The Kreeger Museum is pleased to welcome Amarilis Dueñas Castán?
for a piano concert in collaboration with the Cultural Office of the Embassy of Spain in Washington, DC.
Doors open at 6:00 and guests may enjoy a glass of wine and explore the main floor and lower galleries until 6:45. The concert begins at 7:00 in the Great Hall.

About the Artist
Amarilis Dueñas Castán (1998) performs across Europe on both violoncello and viola da gamba. She appears regularly as a soloist with Holland Baroque and the Leipziger Barockorchester, and collaborates with leading chamber ensembles and period-instrument orchestras such as the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, Concerto Köln and the B‘Rock Orchestra. Her extensive concert activity includes prominent stages and festivals, such as the Cello Biennale Amsterdam in November 2026.
She completed her studies in violoncello and viola da gamba at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln under the guidance of Maria Kliegel, Rainer Zipperling and Robert Smith. Highly regarded for her historical performance practice, she is a prize winner at several prestigious international competitions, including the Bach-Abel Competition in Köthen and the International Telemann Competition in Magdeburg.
Her discography includes her solo album Soliloqvies, released in 2020. She has also recorded the complete 6 Suites for Solo Cello by J.S. Bach (recorded in 2026, upcoming release). Since 2023, Amarilis plays on a historic 1775 violoncello built by Niccolò Gagliano, generously on loan from the Jumpstart Jr. Foundation.
