Daubigny was known for his river scenes and landscapes, but he also created many black and white drawings, etchings, wood engravings, and lithographs. He became an influence to many Impressionist artists of the time, including Monet. Daubigny often painted from a refitted ferry called Le Bottin (The Little Box) to paint the River Oise. These trips on Le Bottin allowed the artist to immerse himself in the environment of the river, impacting his focus on the transparency and luminosity of light and space.
