Works On Paper CollectionEugène Boudin Edge of the Woods (1824—1898) Louis Eugène Boudin was born in Honfleur, Normandy in 1824. After moving with his family to Le Havre in 1835, Boudin was introduced to artists Thomas Couture and Jean-Francois Millet, and a decade later began painting as a career in Paris. Influenced by the Barbizon paintings, he began by copying works of masters to earn money before creating his own original works. He participated in his first Impressionistic exhibition in 1874, though Boudin was known to stubbornly adhere to his own view of painting, not concerned with what would bring success to his career. |
